Cocktail 2 Clears CBFC With No Visual Cuts, Minor Dialogue Changes Ahead of Release

The much-awaited Bollywood film Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, has officially received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Interestingly, the film has passed the certification process without any visual cuts, while only a few dialogue and subtitle modifications were requested before its theatrical release.

The certification has created excitement among Bollywood fans eagerly waiting for the romantic comedy-drama to hit cinemas.

CBFC Approves Cocktail 2 Without Removing Visual Scenes

According to certification details, the CBFC did not ask the filmmakers to trim or edit any visual content. All romantic and intimate scenes have reportedly remained intact, allowing the makers to release the film in its original visual format.

However, the board instructed the production team to make a few audio and subtitle changes to comply with certification guidelines.

Minor Dialogue Changes Ordered

Among the requested modifications, a profanity appearing in the subtitles was removed.

Additionally, every mention of the word “Agni” in the film’s dialogues was replaced with “Diya.” The reason behind this specific change has not been officially explained.

Another dialogue referring to “Jew on the run” was also censored. The certification order does not clarify the context in which the phrase appeared, leaving fans curious about the original scene.

After incorporating these revisions, the CBFC granted the film its ‘A’ certificate on June 16.

Runtime and Release Date Confirmed

The certified runtime of Cocktail 2 is 149 minutes and 19 seconds, making it approximately 2 hours and 29 minutes long.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 19, setting the stage for one of Bollywood’s most anticipated releases of the year.

A New Milestone for Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna

The certification also marks an important career milestone for the lead cast.

For Kriti Sanon, Cocktail 2 becomes the first ‘A’-rated film in her 12-year Bollywood journey.

Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna earns her second adult-certified Hindi film following the blockbuster Animal (2023).

For Shahid Kapoor, the film becomes the fifth ‘A’-rated project of his career after Kaminey, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh, and O’Romeo. It also marks the first time the actor has two consecutive adult-certified films releasing back-to-back.

Cocktail Franchise Returns After 14 Years

The original Cocktail, released in 2012, featured Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, and became a fan-favorite romantic drama.

The sequel reunites director Homi Adajania, producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, and music composer Pritam, while the screenplay has been written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan. The film is jointly produced by Maddock Films and Luv Films.

Final Thoughts

With no visual cuts and only minor dialogue edits, Cocktail 2 is all set for its big-screen release. The CBFC certification has further increased curiosity among movie lovers, while the star-studded cast and successful legacy of the original film have already created strong anticipation.

Fans across Pakistan and India are now eagerly waiting to see whether Cocktail 2 can recreate the magic of its predecessor at the box office. The source of this news is Reviewit.
